GSI Environnement awarded $1.86M contract for site remediation at Saint-Hubert airport
SAINT HUBERT, QUE-GSI Environnement, of Varennes, Quebec has been awarded a Transport Canada contract valued at $1,862,025 for environmental restoration work at Saint-Hubert airport's former disposal site. Work is due to begin this month and continue through to September 2005. The project mainly involves the excavation and treatment of contaminated soil. The restoration work is being carried out to maintain ground conditions, from the perspective of sustainable development. This latest project brings to more than $2.5 million the total investment made by Transport Canada in environmental restoration projects for the Saint Hubert airport. It follows from the department's commitment to responsible management of contaminated sites at the airport, which it divested in September 2004 to DÈveloppement de l'aÈroport Saint-Hubert de Longueuil (DASH-L).
